My EK story
If there's one thing life taught me, it's that plans unfold in their own time and rhythm. My journey in the jewelry world began in 2010, coinciding with my college adventure in Jewelry & Metalsmithing. It wasn't long before I fell head over heels for the craft, thanks to a bomb professor and super fun bosses. The dream of owning a store, however, took an unexpected turn during my days student-teaching art classes. Selling, designing, and creating jewelry ignited a passion that teaching couldn't match.
In April of 2018, Elegant Kreations was born, setting the stage for a series of adventures. Moving into our first brick-and-mortar spot in October 2019 marked a significant milestone, leading to the evolution of our name to EK Jewelers. Not one to shy away from trying new things, we navigated through countless events, training methods, and organizational experiments. November 2021 saw the opening of our new location – a chance to redesign the interior according to my liking, with only one hiccup: the never-ending quest for the perfect lighting.
Our team often jokes about needing a bigger boat as I tend to fill up the store with things I love. Little did they know, my greatest treasure arrived in 2021 – my daughter, Ruby Kay, who's destined to be my fresh-eyed young jeweler. However, 2023 brought personal challenges, including the loss of my little one, Iris, in September. Through the ups and downs, the store remained my sanctuary. It became clear where my focus needed to be – growing both the business and my line.
As we march forward, I'll be working mainly from home, studying, designing, typing appraisals, and pitching in wherever needed. Our incredible team at EK, passionate about the front end of the store, empowers me to handle behind-the-scenes tasks essential for our long-term success. None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our community. Ek Jewelers is not just a business; it's a shared journey, a collective effort shaped by the unique threads each individual weaves into our sparkling tapestry. Here's to more growth, more love, and a future filled with the brilliance of EK Jewelers.
